hemroid recovery time

hemroid or cyst

What could this be?

I’ve noticed a painful…lump or something down there, and am at a loss as to what it could be. It’s not a sore, or anything that i’ve heard about before, you can’t see it at all. It hurts only if pressure is applied, and it seems to be a hard lump under the skin. you can feel it to the touch, but its not visible, the skin is not shiny, red, irritated, or anything. I don’t see how it could be any kind of std because for one, it doesn’t look like anything i’ve heard of, and also, i just got a pap smear done and it came back normal. I think i may have had one before, but it was closer to my anus, so i assumed it was a hemroid, and it went away in a week. it feels the same though, so i don’t think its a cyst or tumer or anything, because it will probably go away on its own. I just started the Depo shot birth control a few days ago, could this be a symptom of that? has anyone expieranced anything like this before, please any information is helpful. thankyou

You should go to the doctor, as a cancer survivor, anytime I hear of weird lumps I say “Get them checked ASAP!!”

It could be a cyst and really that’s what it sounds like. They do go away, depending on the kind of cyst.

Just be safe and go to the doctor.

essential oil hemorrhoids

There is a great deal of fear coming primarily from the British approach about using essential oils with pregnant women. This fear is that the essential oils will damage the developing child, or essential oils will cause abortions, miscarriages or premature births. Since some essential oils influence hormonal balance, there is also the fear of disrupting a normal pregnancy. Yet there is no evidence in the literature that this is actually true. However, if a little essential oil is good, it does not mean that a lot is better. Without the research, we do not know how much of the compounds in essential oils actually cross the placenta to the growing child. Can essential oils be used to cause abortion? Both Pennyroyal and Parsley Seed (apiol) have been reported to cause death of the mother in attempts to abort a fetus. It is important to remember that ANY essential oil misused can cause potential damage if taken in large quantities.

Shirley Price in her book Aromatherapy for Health Professionals, clearly states that the use of essential oils during pregnancy requires great expertise. She recommends caution during the first trimester since we really don’t know how many molecules of an oil actually cross the placenta. She feels that essential oils can safely be used after this critical growing point in the life of the fetus. Can pregnant women use essential oils topically and inhale them? The answer is YES. The quantities are so small that they cannot possibly harm the mother. You will however, want to limit topical dilutions to 10% or less. Should pregnant women take essential oils internally? For legal reasons, that is best left for the licensed health care professionals.

There are very few essential oils to be avoided during pregnancy-Juniperus sabina (Savin) and Juniperus pfitzeriana (Spanish Sage.) In laboratory animals, tumors developed in the offspring when they were exposed in the womb to all essential oils rich in safrole. These include Brazilian sassafras, Ocotea camphora, Chinese sassafras, Cinnamomum camphora.

Why Might a Pregnant Woman Want to Use an Essential Oil?

Actually there are lots of reasons. Indigestion, hemorrhoids, morning sickness, relaxation, rest, sleep, back pain, stretch marks, edema, rashes, urinary tract infections, emotional upsets, eczema, leg cramps, to name but a few problems that can develop with pregnancy. Essential oils can easily handle all of these problems with little concern of danger to the fetus.

hemorrhoid surgery recovery time

Injuries are not uncommon in sports, and with injures comes rehabilitation. On one professional baseball roster alone there can be as many as twenty injured players at a time. Some have minimal injuries, others major, but the main factor in getting that player back onto the field is rehab. Players with minimal injuries such as pulled muscles and sprained joints can get quick rehab and be back playing in no time. The real rehab comes when a player has to get orthopedic surgery on a specific injury. Examples of common baseball injuries that require surgery are: ACL (Knee), Tommy John (Elbow), Rotator Cuff (Shoulder), Labrum (Shoulder). The surgery is the easy part, the three hour or so procedure is nothing but the rehab after is the tough part; as a matter of fact it is a grind.

May 5th 2005 was my surgery date to repair a torn labrum. Yes I was scared, I had heard all the bad news about shoulder surgeries but I also knew that I would work my hardest on the rehab to get back on that field. And that I did on June 17th 2006 in the Cape Cod baseball league. It was a great feeling, knowing that I made it back from the surgery and I was pitching live again. The one thing I didn’t forget is that 12 months of recovery, rehab and throwing programs. I pitched that summer and it was a great experience, better yet my shoulder felt like it was back and getting stronger everyday. At the end of that summer, while in negotiations with the LA Angels I looked back on the struggles and fulfillment of rehab.

The rehab started actually before I had surgery, they called it “prehab.” For two weeks before surgery I was in the training room at the University of San Diego working on strengthening my shoulder before surgery. Those two weeks went by and it was time for the surgery. Once out of surgery I was on a five week plan of doing nothing with my left arm, I was in a sling the whole time. It was tough to do the normal everyday stuff like: writing, changing clothes, showering, sleeping and eating to name a couple. Soon there after I was ready for my rehab to start. One important thing about rehab is always have a goal to achieve during the process. My goal was to be ready for the next season which started in February. So four days a week I worked on that goal, little by little I got closer and closer. After two months I have better range of motion and I was using weights. After four months I had strengthened enough move the weights up and start some more explosive exercises. Let me tell you, I never knew that it would feel so good to be able to lift my arm over my head again! Finally after five months I was ready to start a throwing program. It was very important to make sure the strength was there before starting a throwing program to protect against and setbacks.

The throwing program started small and was a gradual process. When I say small I mean small, I started out throwing ten throws at ten feet. Soon the program was up to 45 ft. then 60 and on forth. Three months after my rehab was complete was my first day back on the mound, and what a great feeling it was. It was a great feeling until my first throw, which hurt because it broke up scar tissue that was built up from the surgery. As I continued with the throwing program, and mound work I started to have confidence. Although that confidence was shattered on numerous occasions due to soreness or fatigue, I was able the work through it. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster just trying to hang on, there were great, good and bad days. Just to clear it up, while I was doing this throwing program, I was also still continuing my rehab, which at this point was more maintaining then strengthening.

The season was steadily approaching and I just wanted up to par on where I wanted to be when the season started. My only option was to not start the season on time and wait until I felt 100 percent (Although I still question if anyone can feel 100 percent after a major surgery). For me that percentage just didn’t come in time and I was left without that adrenalin for a whole baseball year. It was hard to watch my team out there battling and I was not there to contribute. March, April and May passed and at this time I decided to red-shirt and gain another year. So although I didn’t reach the goal of getting back on the mound by the time season started, I knew that I didn’t rush back and I would be better in the long run.

The Cape Cod baseball season was my next goal, and I achieved that, I was ready to go on June 17th. It wasn’t easy but I was there and I didn’t give up the hope and dream of being back on that baseball field against live competition. Better yet at the end of the summer I signed with the LA Angels and am currently playing professional baseball. Surgery and rehab can be a long road but set goals and work hard and anything is possible.

recovery time hemorrhoid surgery

Hemorrhoid laser surgery is becoming more and more popular nowadays. This type of surgery is quite costly, but has proven to be really effective in obliterating and cutting the bulge in your anus. There are several reasons why you should opt for the laser surgery as a way of healing yourself from hemorrhoids.

Less tools, less hassle – By comparison, laser surgery uses less tools in operations. Surgeons only use laser beams in getting rid of the excessive and spoilt tissues in your anus. Less tools means less hassle, hence the surgery can be performed better.

Minimum blood, maximum recovery – In hemorrhoid surgery, the harsh and sore hemorrhoids are removed which means the cutting of some nerves which will cause massive bleeding. However, in laser surgery, the tissues are cut with almost no bleeding and concurrently the laser beams seal the nerve endings. Moreover, this technique prevent the destruction of healthy tissues which leads your body to a speedy recovery.

Harmless and effective – The surgery is always performed by proficient surgeons, thus it is assuringly safe and successful. Furthermore, in this surgery, no smoke and steam are released, therefore, no distraction in performing surgery. By using laser beams, it is easier for surgeons to locate the specific tissues that need to be cut.

Less time, less pain – The surgery takes less time to be performed compared to the normal surgeries. The better part is you will be staying in the hospital only for a short while after the operation. You may feel some pain and uneasiness after the surgery, which is quite common, but only for a couple of days. After that, you can go back to your normal life and daily routines.

Hemorrhoid laser surgery should be opted only after your hemorrhoids becoming more acute and when tablets, pills and herbal products fail on you. Before you agree to undergo this surgery please consider the facts below:

High cost – The surgery is one of the latest innovation in the medical world. It uses high technology and requires high maintenance. No doubt that it is reliable, but it is also quite pricey. So, think of the high cost before you sign up for the laser surgery.

Specialist needed – Not just any surgeon can perform the hemorrhoid laser surgery. The surgeon must be able to control the powerful laser beams when removing any tissues. A very skilled surgeon is then required to do it to avoid any casualty.

Despite being expensive, hemorrhoid laser surgery has been proven to be more effective, reliable and heal faster than other treatments. Opt for it when you are running out of other alternatives.

stapled hemorrhoidectomy

The choice for a surgical procedure hemorrhoids can depend on several factors. Internal hemorrhoids are treated differently from external ones.

Surgical treatment of internal hemorrhoids.

These procedures are done to hemorrhoids in stages 1 and 2. The methods are performed in the healthcare provider’s office.

The procedures can be as follows:

Rubber band ligation – This is a simple and effective method for curing hemorrhoids . The blood supply to the hemorrhoid is cut off by placing a small rubber band at the base of the hemorrhoid unit. Eventually, the hemorrhoid dries up and drops off. Ligation id performed in a doctor’s office and demands no special pre-medication.This is an outpatient procedure for second -stage internal hemorrhoids.

Sclerotherapy – this is a method of injecting a solidifying agent into the stems of the internal hemorrhoids, aiming to interrupt blood circulation. The hemorrhoid then shrivels up and disappears.

Infrared coagulation – This method is used to treat small hemorrhoids. The hemorrhoid is treated with infrared light in order to be cut off the blood circulation and dry up in the aftermath.

Stapled hemorrhoidectomy – the procedure removes a ring of tissue from the anal canal. The cutting of the tissue cuts the hemorrhoids off the blood circulation and as a result they shrink. Then, the tissue ring is secured with staples which hold the tissue in place.

Hemorrhoidectomy – this is a surgery for removing large and very painful internal hemorrhoids. It is the last resort in treatment of internal hemorrhoids.

Surgical treatment of external hemorrhoids.

External hemorrhoids are usually removed with surgery. It can be applied to second-stage hemorrhoids which have failed ligation treatment. Laser coagulation is used to stop the blood circulation from the external hemorrhoid and eventually the hemorrhoid drues up and falls off.

Getting ready for surgery.

Surgery will be done in hospital. First of all, you should inform the doctor for your health status. Tell him what kind of medication you are taking – this includes herbal remedies and food supplements.

Stop eating and drinking before midnight, the night before your surgery takes place. Stop smoking. Arrange for a member of the family or a friend to drive you home after the procedure.

After surgery.

After the procedure you will be taken to a rest area to recover from the anesthesia.Perhaps you may need to remain in hospital for the night or just leave the hospital the same day. You may have a slight bleeding, nausea and rectal discharge for a week after the surgery. The doctor will prescribe you pain-alleviating medication for the surgery wound and laxatives to ease bowel movement.

The risks that accompany surgical treatment of hemorrhoids.

As with any surgery, there are a couple of risks which are related to hemorroidectomy. A patient must consider the following:

- If too much muscle tissue is drawn, this can result in damage to the rectal wall. This may lead to inflammation or infection.
- The internal sphincter muscles may be damaged. The result may be a long-term or a short-term dysfunction such as severe pain and incontinence.
- Narrowing of the anal canal.
- Infection.
- Bleeding.

hemorrhoid questions

Hemorrhoids are common problems of the rectum and the anus. If detected early, Hemorrhoids can be cured with easily available medications – with many prepared from herbs. Such herbal medications may be a bit slow in reacting compared to the other medicines prepared from chemicals but the best thing about these herbal medicines is that they leave no side effects.

Hemorrhoids cause unpleasant, burning and painful sensations in the rectum and the anus areas often accompanied by bleeding. Hemorrhoids occur due to veins that get swollen in those portions. The bleeding takes place as the blood vessels get torn resulting from excessive pressure exerted on the bowels, say during the bowel movement process.

The elderly persons generally get Hemorrhoids. However, a stressful life coupled with tension and worries can also lead to conditions like sleeplessness or fatigue or constipation which can then lead to Hemorrhoids.

Such bleeding can also be a sign of colon polyps or what is commonly called colon cancer. Hence to be on the safer side it is always advisable to check out if there are stains of blood on the seat prior to flushing the toilet.

For curing hemorrhoid pruritus and irritation, one can go for baths (warm sitz) daily for at least 20 minutes. Such sitz baths as well as bowls that are portable can be procured from any chemists shop. Sitz baths provide relief by relaxing the sphincter especially in the internal anal portion. The hemorrhoid itching arising from soilage (fecal) can be taken care of by supplementing the diet with fibery food items that soften their bulking and hard nature. Analgesics can also provide relief from hemorrhoid pains. Moreover, for patients suffering from such chronic hemorrhoid symptoms should seek the doctorsÂ’ advices. They can be provided the alternative means of surgery, laser coagulation, cryotherapy , sclerotherapy, or ligation using the rubber band.

One should always be extra cautious during such stages when one may be suffering from diarrhea, as excessive pressure on the bowel or constant sitting may aggravate the hemorrhoid state. Be also careful during coughing – especially if it is severe or chronic — pregnancy and childbirth. DonÂ’t exert pressure on the abdomen and the lower rear portion of the body while lifting heavy weights.

To reduce hemorrhoid bleeding, one can increase the consumption of fibery food items. There are lots of ready-made preparations available in the market that readily supplement the body with the fibery elements and also augment the capacity of the body to absorb fibery substances. One such commercial product is psyllium which as well as methylcellulose makes the stools softer and turns them into bulks so that they can be passed out through the rectum via the anus.

medical treatment hemorrhoids

Many over-the-counter products are sold for the treatment of hemorrhoids. These often contain the same drugs that are used for treating anal symptoms such as itching or discomfort. There are few studies showing that they do anything for hemorrhoids. They probably only reduce the symptoms of hemorrhoids. It is possible, however, that their effectiveness relates to their treatment of anal conditions other than hemorrhoids, for example, idiopathic anal itching, that often accompany hemorrhoids.

Products used for the treatment of hemorrhoids are available as ointments, creams, gels, suppositories, foams and pads. Most products contain more than one type of active ingredient. Almost all contain a protectant in addition to another ingredient. The following are examples of products containing one ingredient in addition to the protectant.

Ointments, creams and gels — when used around the anus — should be applied as a thin covering. When applied to the anal canal, these products should be inserted with a finger or a “pile pipe”. Pile pipes are most efficient when they have holes on the sides as well as at the end. Pile pipes should be lubricated with ointment prior to insertion. Suppositories or foams do not have advantages over ointments, creams and gels.

Local anesthetics temporarily relieve pain, burning and itching by numbing the nerve endings. The use of these products should be limited to the perianal area and lower anal canal. Local anesthetics can cause allergic reactions with burning and itching; therefore, if burning and itching increase with the application of anesthetics, they should be discontinued.

Vasoconstrictors are chemicals that resemble epinephrine, a naturally occurring chemical. Applied to the anus, vasoconstrictors make the blood vessels become smaller, which may reduce swelling. They also may reduce pain and itching due to their mild anesthetic effect. Vasoconstrictors applied to the perianal area — unlike vasoconstrictors that are taken orally or by injection — have a low likelihood of causing serious side effects, such as high blood pressure, nervousness, tremor, sleeplessness, and aggravation of diabetes or hyperthyroidism.

Protectants prevent irritation of the perianal area by forming a physical barrier on the skin that prevents contact of the irritated skin with aggravating liquid or stool from the rectum. This barrier reduces irritation, itching, pain and burning. There are many products that are themselves protectants or that contain a protectant in addition to other medications.

Astringents cause coagulation of proteins in the cells of the perianal skin or the lining of the anal canal. This action promotes dryness of the skin, which in turn helps relieve burning, itching and pain. Antiseptics inhibit the growth of bacteria and other organisms. However, it is unclear whether antiseptics are any more effective than soap and water.

Keratolytics are chemicals that cause the outer layers of skin or other tissues to disintegrate. The rationale for their use is that the disintegration allows medications that are applied to the anus and perianal area to penetrate into the deeper tissues. Analgesic products, like anesthetic products, relieve pain, itching and burning by depressing receptors on pain nerves.

Corticosteroids reduce inflammation and can relieve itching, but their chronic use can cause permanent damage to the skin. They should not be used for more than short periods of a few days to two weeks. Only products with weak corticosteroid effects are available over-the-counter. Stronger corticosteroid products that are available by prescription should not be used for treating hemorrhoids.

Existing medicinal interventions to treat hemorrhoids are highly invasive, traumatic, painful, and can result in tissue damage or rectal scarring. Enter CURED. We have combined certified organic medicinal plant extracts with healing botanicals to create our hemorrhoid cures. These extracts display a remarkable array of pharmacological and biochemical actions to reverse hemorrhoids. They have been shown to be excellent cures for hemorrhoids in scientific trials.

The active certified organic ingredients in this cure for hemorrhoids are lipophilic, highly astringent, and have a low molecular weight. The lipophilic tendency means they are soluble in fatty or skin tissue, allowing them to be absorbed by cell membranes. As a result, the treatment readily passes into rectal tissue where the astringent properties safely and gently contract blood vessels, ideal for hemorrhoid cure.

The shrinking of swollen blood vessels in the rectum shuts down twisted rectal veins in hemorrhoids. Cure of excess blood of the anal area, decreases rectal inflammation. Venous circulation is strengthened and hemorrhoids are quickly eliminated. This is a safe and established method among hemorrhoid cures. To learn more, please go to http://www.bcured.net.

after hemorrhoid surgery

So you are suffering from hemorrhoids for years now and you had tried just about every product in the market that offers your painless treatment for hemorrhoid. And one day, on the internet, you came across laser surgery for hemorrhoids.

However, laser surgery is not for everyone. First, the equipments used are expensive. That will translate higher surgery costs to you. Also there is not much differences in terms of healing time, pain level when you compare with normal scalpel surgery. And therefore hemorrhoids laser surgery is as dangerous as scalpel surgery. There are risks involved. Where scalpels can accidentally cut something other they are supposed to, lasers can also cause deep tissue burns if they are aimed poorly.

Do you know that laser surgery for hemorrhoids is not taught in medical school? The inherent risk really comes down to the doctor’s qualifications.

But if you insist on having surgery using laser procedures, do talk to your doctor at length regarding the surgical procedures. The more you know, the better you will be informed. Your doctor should be able to explain all the risks involved and advice accordingly. And make sure your health insurance cover laser surgery before committing to the procedure. As a general rule of thumb, if your insurances do not cover laser treatment for hemorrhoids, forget about it.

Obviously, you are desperate and will want the pesky hemorrhoids gone. Ask yourself, how much pain are you willing to take after the surgery? How quickly can you recover and what are the chances that the hemorrhoids will reappear? As with normal scalpel surgeries, the patient is normally put on a restricted diet for a short period of time prior to the procedure.

Recovery from hemorrhoid laser surgery procedure usually takes about one to two weeks. Often it can take longer than that. You will probably do not have the strength to take care of yourself and every step from the recovery period can be very painful. Even taking a shower can be a painful event!

Having discussed all the above, however, it does not that hemorrhoids laser surgery a sub-standard method.  On the contrary, it is really a fine surgical tool. However, the distinct lack of advantages coupled with higher costs suggest that other and cheaper methods of hemorrhoid treatment should be considered instead.

hemroid surgery recovery time

Rubber band ligation has been used as a surgical approach to the treatments of hemorrhoids for quite some time and depending on the research that you read the success rate ranges from fifty to seventy five percent.  Rubber band ligation is used when a internal hemorrhoid is considered to be graded at the second degree mark.  This is a day surgery and the recovery is typically three to five days as long as everything is successful.

During the rubber band ligation procedure the patient lies on his or her side with their knees drawn up.  The doctor uses a proctoscope inserted into the rectum to open up the anal cavity.  A pair of forceps is then used to line up the hemorrhoid with a piece of equipment known as the Barron ligator which allows the surgeon to place a small rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid with the hope that it will cut off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid and the end results is the hemorrhoid will basically dry out and fall off.  The use of rubber bands in the treatment of hemorrhoids goes way back in history with Hippocrates writing about tying hemorrhoids off with string in attempt to cure this rather painful disorder.  After the procedure is over the patient goes home and is asked to not take any form of Aspirin for at least two weeks as the ingredients in Aspirin actual cause the muscles to swell and contract so the patient is told to use Ibuprofen for their pain relief.

The potential side effects of rubber band ligation can be pretty scary.  Possible side effects include the rubber band slipping or breaking, bleeding, pain, anal fissure and a infection at the site of the hemorrhoid.  The main problem with the rubber band ligation hemorrhoid procedure is that it may take care of the present hemorrhoid but does nothing to prevent more hemorrhoids from appearing in the future.
