I gave birth 2 1/2 weeks ago and I got hemorrhoids from pushing so hard during labor (sorry if this is gross!) They are really painful and it hurts to sit/walk/go to the bathroom. How do I get rid of them, or at least make them stop hurting?

Thank you!

You cannot get rid of hemorrhoids, but you can treat them in order to lessen their severity. A commercial ointment or cream will help to shrink the swollen tissues. (The cream is typically more effective.) Cotton pads or baby wipes that are soaked in witch hazel are cooling and soothing.

You should also take care to stay well hydrated and to eat a diet that is rich in fiber so that you don’t become constipated. Do not strain to move your bowels, and do not spend a long time sitting on the toilet. When you can, avoid sitting — laying on your side may increase your comfort and provide healing time.

Last but by no means least, bring this up to your care provider during your postpartum follow-up appointment. Truly severe hemorrhoids may require medical intervention. If you experience any bleeding whatsoever, call your health care provider immediately.

Pediculus Humanus Capitis or head lice infestation is one of the most common illnesses among children especially during summer time. This is when increasing number of children get infested with nymphs and nits. Head lice infestation affects anybody regardless of age, sex, race and gender. More infestation on female children has been recorded over the years. Head louse transfers faster through direct person to person contact. Parents are finding the best solution for head lice over the years and most of them prefer natural remedies rather than prescription medicine for the safety and protection of their children from the harsh elements of chemical ingredients of commercial lice shampoos and lotion.

Understanding the nature of head lice

Head lice are found in the human scalp. They usually sucked blood from the scalp in order to live and survive. Lice are classified parasites and are causing much disturbance psychologically, but these parasites do not cause health hazards to infested individuals. To know more about head lice infestation have a look at some of the frequently asked questions about these bugs.

How do they grow?

Head lice life cycle turnaround is about 30 days from egg to egg. It has three stages namely nits, nymphs and adult lice.

· Nits or lice eggs are hatched by female louse. There are about 6 to 10 nits laid daily. Lice eggs are attached firmly on the base of hair shaft as if glued because they required much heat for incubation. Nits are very small measuring only 0.8 mm by 0.3 mm, colored off white and estimated to hatch within the next 6 to 7 days.

· Nymphs look exactly the same with adult lice only that they are smaller than full grown lice. Usually nits’ shell stayed on the hair strand still and its color changed to dull yellow. Nymphs mature after seven days.

· Adult louse measures about 2.55 long, oval shaped and feeds as many times during the day. Usually male louse are smaller than female louse.

Can you acquire them from plants and animals?

Head lice thrive on human scalp alone and never on plants and animals. Therefore you cannot be infested from animals and home grown plants in your backyard.

Do adults affected with lice too?

Yes, everybody is susceptible to have head lice. Head lice infestation is more likely to occur on children ages 3 to 10 years old than adults because this age range has more direct contact with each other in school, parties and play camps.

Can they fly and jump from head of one person to another?

Head lice do not have wings to fly nor long legs to jump from one person to another. Obviously crawling is their mode of transportation. Transmission of lice is easier by direct contact with the infested person.

Is having long hair attracts more parasites?

No, because lice are more concentrated on the scalp and so having short or long hair doesn’t affect at all. You can have more lice if you will not remove the lice eggs immediately from the scalp.

What are effective head lice infestation treatment?

Treating head louse problems the soonest is very important to avoid further accumulation of lice and nits in the scalp. Here are some of the most practiced treatments over the years found to be very effective in removing lice and lice eggs.

· There are medicated shampoos found to be very effective in killing lice like Nix and Rid. Parents should follow the complete and detailed instructions of treatment application. Ulesfia or Benzyl Alcohol Lotion 5% is a water soluble gel known to suffocate lice and are good to use even for very young children ages six months and up. There are treatments which only kill lie and nymphs but leaving lice eggs still in the scalp and so the problem still exist over and over again until all lice eggs are removed. To address this problem you may opt for manual picking of lice and nits using tweezers and lice comb.

· Using the best type of lice comb is the answer to long time problem of head lice infestation. Several types of lice combs are available such as the metal type combs and plastic ones. Metal combs are more appropriate to remove all stubborn lice and nits because of its stiff teeth and narrow partitions making it simpler to see and kill lice. You can use plastic combs in dividing hair portions into an inch apart to locate crawling lice easily.

· Disinfect all personal belongings of infested individual. These are things used by the person to groom his hair and other things which in contact with the human scalp such as head bands and hair clips. You can use hot water, detergent soap and bleach to disinfect those things. Clothings, bedding and other linens previously used by infested person must be washed thoroughly with soap and bleach also in order to kill lice present there. Head lice can survive about 2 days outside the host environment and the nits can survive of about fourteen days away from the scalp. And so to avoid further re infestation of head lice, personal things must be cleaned. Those belongings which cannot be washed with a washing machine can be sealed in a separate bag or have it dry cleaned or touched with hot iron.

In order to prevent the head lice infestation at home and control it from spreading more to the other members of the family, it is really essential to treat everybody from nits and nymphs before they grow into matured bugs. Infested individual must be treated first including all personal things associated by him. Proper information dissemination is also important so that head lice infestation is prevented to happen in school, play station and activity centers.

The urinary tract could become obstructed such as from a kidney stone, tumor, expanding uterus during pregnancy, or enlarged prostate gland. Infection and injury of the kidney could be caused by the buildup of urine. With a kidney stone, frequently the obstruction is painful. Other obstructions might make no symptoms and be identified simply when a blood or urine test is abnormal or an imaging process, for example an x-ray or ultrasound, identifies it.

Whether obstruction leads to damage to kidney function relies on the extent of obstruction and also the age of the patient.

Blockage of the urinary drainage system at the beginning of the ureter, or the tube that links the kidney and bladder is the most ordinary sort of obstruction. This is named as ureteropelvic junction obstruction. The ureter might be blocked at its relationship with the bladder too, named ureterovesical junction obstruction. If the lower ureter is dilated resembling a balloon, an ureterocele is present, which can obstruct drainage from both kidneys, or half of one kidney.

There perhaps no symptoms from the obstruction by any means, in order that the merely clues derive from the kidneys not running appropriately. However one usual cause, kidney stones, is typically so painful.

Things that block the way out from the bladder frequently leads to problem with passing urine, such as requiring to pass urine much more frequently than common. Absolute obstruction of the bladder or of both kidneys leads to you to stop passing urine totally.

Removing the blockage is the best, but is not always simple, and typically a momentary technique of relieving the obstruction is employed firstly.

By inserting a catheter into the bladder, obstruction to flow from the bladder could be relieved. If this cannot be completed by way of the urethra, at times it is essential to put it straight into the bladder by way of the skin.

A momentary medication is to place a tube into the distended collecting system of the kidney for obstruction to the ureters. This is typically completed employing ultrasound or X-rays to direct a needle into the proper place. However cautiously this is made, there is a danger of bleeding and damaging the kidney whereas doing this. The urine afterward drains by means of a tube that comes out of your back into a bag. This is named an antegrade nephrostomy. A plastic tube named a stent at times could be passed through the obstruction to ease the block. Generally this is done later on, while the kidney has recovered. For weeks or months it might be missing in place.

Yes. It’s quite common and I suffer from that affliction all through my pregnancies(I am 38 weeks with my second and last). I find it helps more to focus on the fiber aspect as well as the added fruit. it also helps more to have citrus fruit than others I have found. I have a bowl of raisin bran every morning and usually a bran muffin or another bowl of bran cereal in the evening. I also eat a lot of melons and citrus as this seems to help. I try to stay away from starchy things completely as they complicate things and this seems to work. Prune juice has done nothing to help me at all.
Lots of fluids are a very good idea as well.

Hemorrhoids affect approximately 4% of the general population and affect about men and women equally. They can be very difficult to deal with the symptoms since they are very unpleasant. Some of the symptoms you may experience with hemorrhoids is a burning, itching sensation at the anus. You may also have difficulty making bowel movements and may notice blood on your tissue paper! This is all very unpleasant. It can get worse if you experience external hemorrhoids.

External hemorrhoids develop outside the opening of the anus. These types of hemorrhoids can be very painful because the skin around that area is very sensitive. They can then develop a clot inside them which is most common after bouts of constipation or diarrhea. This can form a painful mass or lump outside the rim of the anus. This kind of external hemorrhoid is referred to as thrombosed hemorrhoids.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids may heal with scarring and leave a bit of skin that dangles from the anus. This can sometimes be quite large and can make proper cleaning a challenge. This can cause further irritation to the anus. It is so important to get adequate hemorrhoid treatment to avoid such problems. The best measures to take is prevention.

A list of how to get rid of hemorrhoids:

1.	PREVENTION

-	Eat plenty of fiber

-	Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day

-	Exercise for 20 minutes or more per day

-	Do not delay bowel movements

2.	TREATMENT

-Take a sitz bath

-Use an ice pack for swelling and pain

-Apply aloe vera gel to the affected area

-Clean area with a witch hazel pad after each bowel movement

3.	SURGERY

-Rubber band ligation

-Sclerotherapy

-Coagulation therapies

-Hemorrhoidectomy

4.	NATURAL TREATMENTS

-A new advanced combination of prevention and natural treatments.

Surgery is recommended for those that are suffering from severe hemorrhoids that are either prolapsed or filled with a blood clot. You should see a doctor if you have such severe conditions.

The best hemorrhoid treatment is to prevent and treat external hemorrhoids before they get too severe. This can be accomplished with new developments with natural holistic hemorrhoid treatments. These proven remedies can heal painful external hemorrhoids fast, effectively and without embarrassment. Natural hemorrhoid remedies get to the root of your hemorrhoid cause. You should find a cure that not only treats the existing hemorrhoids, but prevents them and works well for you.

Hemorrhoids are masses of swollen veins in the lower rectum or at the anus. The condition develops from increased pressure in the veins in the lower rectum most often caused by straining to have a bowel movement. Hemorrhoids are varicose veins — that is, blood vessels that have become unusually swollen – hat show up in the rectal area. Hemorrhoids are typically anywhere from the size of a raisin to the size of a grape. Hemorrhoids are often itchy and can be very painful, especially in the first few days postpartum. You may find some bleeding in the rectal area especially after a bowel movement, this is normal.

Hemorrhoids are very common in both men and women, and about half of the population in the United States will suffer from hemorrhoids at least once by age fifty. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins and excess tissue in the lower rectum and anus. They can cause pain, bleeding, and itching. Hemorrhoids are common among pregnant women because the pressure of the fetus in the abdomen, as well as hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, cause the hemorrhoidal vessels to enlarge.

External Hemorrhoids, however, are commonly associated with pain and itching as well as bleeding. Thus, most of the approximately 500,000 Americans who seek medical treatment for Hemorrhoids each year are afflicted with the external type of the swollen veins. External Hemorrhoids involve the veins outside the anus. They can be itchy or painful and can sometimes crack and bleed. External hemorrhoids may also be noticed by the presence of a small skin tag protruding from the anus or of a bulging vein type protusion around the anus.

Internal Hemorrhoids can range from small, swollen veins in the wall of the anal canal to large, sagging veins and tissue that bulge out of the anus all the time. Internal Hemorrhoids can be painful if they protrude all the time and are squeezed by the anal muscles, or if they are thrombosed, or clotted. Internal Hemorrhoids usually develop due to chronic constipation and are also prone to develop during a woman’s pregnancy period. Internal Hemorrhoids often do not cause a visible lump or pain, but they can bleed. Bleeding from Internal Hemorrhoids typically occurs with bowel movements, causing blood-streaked stool or toilet paper.

Hemorrhoids treatment can be external or internal or both together depending on the nature of the condition. Medicated pads procurable commercially contain witch hazel, that is a natural astringent drug which can help relieve irritation and reduce swelling. A few people are sensitive to astringents as well as the painkillers carried in hemorrhoid cream, thus care should be exercised when using these products. Natural treatments, such as Venapro, have shown to be effective in controlling and reversing symptoms dramatically.

Josh Darity writes about various topics. He maintains a site about his experience with various Hemroids treatments. To read more about his Hemroid Treatment experiences, please visit Cure-Hemorrhoids.info

I just had hemorrhoid surgery (staple procedure) 2 days ago and just had my first bowel movement. Afterwards my hemorrhoids seem to be the same as before the surgery. Just as large and all. Someone please let me know if this is okay and normal, orif I need to go back to the hospital.

Looks to me a little bit too soon to have them back. I suggest to go back and tell them that the procedure wasn’t successful.

Alternatively you can also try Rue Care Oil – brought good results also to sufferers where surgery wasn’t successful.

The strain and pressure caused due to labor in the rectal region aggravate the hemorrhoids distress in pregnant ladies. Almost all women suffer with this problem in different pregnancy stages. It basically happens due to the swollen and damaged veins around the rectum which causes severe discomfort, pain and itching in and around that region.

As far as possible try to avoid standing and sitting in same posture for long hours. Keep your feet above the ground. Taking bath daily with warm water is also found to be very helpful in relieving this distress.

You can use ice cubes for immediate relieve as they act as local anesthesia. Try to simply rub it in the affected region for some time and you feel relieve instantly. Avoid doing anything that cause strain on your lower body. Don’t lift heavy objects and don’t bend down frequently.

Always take a well balanced diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals. This is very important during pregnancy as you need to meet the increased requirement of your body during pregnancy. Consume lots of water and juices and keep your body hydrated.
