How to get rid of hemmoroids?

28 weeks pregnant, and have my first hemmoroid. Its really uncomfortable and appears to keep getting larger. I used preparation H,is that the best thing? What has everyone else done about this problem? And how long until it goes away?

Try wiping with the witch hazel medicated pads, like Tucks, or a store brand. It takes a few times, but it really helped mine go away with my last pregnancy and it also eases the discomfort. I sympathize for you.
