external hemroid treatments
In this article, I will explain what hemorrhoids exactly are, their types, and different methods of external hemorrhoids treatment.
Hemorrhoids are a common problem affecting about 5-10% of the population worldwide. Also, over 50% of people aged 50 years or more suffer from hemorrhoids at some point.
What are hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins in the anal and rectal areas due to weakness of their walls or increased pressure inside them or both.
There are 2 types of hemorrhoids, internal and external.
Internal hemorrhoids: Internal hemorrhoids are due to swelling of the internal hemorrhoidal veins and occur inside the anus. The only symptom in internal hemorrhoids is bright-red blood on the surface of stools or on the toilet paper. Internal hemorrhoids are usually not painful although discomfort or mild pain is sometimes present in the anal area.
External hemorrhoids: In external hemorrhoids, there is swelling of the external hemorrhoidal veins and occur outside the anus. Symptoms of external hemorrhoids include pain, discomfort and bleeding, in addition to a painful hard mass outside the anus. Therefore, external hemorrhoids are more obvious and more easily diagnosed than internal hemorrhoids.
Treatment of external hemorrhoids
Although hemorrhoids are not an emergency, treatment should not be delayed to avoid irreversible changes in the hemorrhoids tissues.
Dietary changes: Your diet should be balanced and nutritious, rich in vitamins and minerals. The most important item in dietary changes is to increase amount of fiber in your diet by eating sufficient amounts of fruits and vegetables. Also, you should drink enough water, at least 8 cups daily.
Sitz baths: This is a special bath designed for hemorrhoids in which, your anal area is exposed to a running stream of warm water. Warm water improves circulation in the anal area and relieves hemorrhoids pain. The bath should be followed by complete drying to avoid irritation.
Cold compresses. Pieces of ice are wrapped in a thin towel and applied for 15 minutes. This can be repeated every 4 hours.
All the above methods provide temporary control of hemorrhoids without actually curing them. For a permanent hemorrhoids cure, you need to follow a complete system, that takes into consideration all possible causes and different types and varying severity. Now, there is a system which is very popular for natural hemorrhoids treatment and guarantees that you will not only cure hemorrhoids permanently, but also prevent their recurrence.
