abscess hemorrhoid

Any experience with a peri-rectal abscess?

Pain started over the weekend. Thought it was a hemorrhoid but yesterday it was much harder. Just got diagnosed (was expecting to be cut – and relieved) and was sent home to ‘warm compress’ and come back once it was softer. My whole right side (hip to shoulder) is sore and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks!

Yes. I suffer from the same thing. It has “come and gone” since I was 10 years old. I noticed it after I fell down the stairs with a bowl of apples. (Thought I broke my tail bone)
It has also moved to my groin, where I have it on both sides now. Hot compresses and Neosporin do work to shrink, and or bring the boil to a head to burst on it’s own, or you can have it surgically done. I’d opt for it to burst on it’s own. Mine was about the size of a golf ball, but healed on it’s own after a few weeks of draining.
