I suggest that you work at it from two angles,
For relief of course there is Preparation H as well as Tuck’s Wipes. Also soaking in a tub of warm
bath water will help.
Now while you do these things it is good to look at why you have the problem,
First on the list is diet, make sure you get enough fiber, constipation make you strain which will aggravate the problem,
Also being over weight can play a role in this,
as well as high blood pressure, have you had yours checked?

Fiber. Lots and lots of fiber. 30 grams every day is what my doctor told me. Supplement 30 grams using psyllium husks mixed with water. It is nasty. Like drinking sawdust and it swells up as you drink it so you have to drink it quickly. 30 grams of this stuff is a lot but it is what they suggest. It works very well. One would think it would make you go to the bathroom a lot. It does not. It adds bulk and somehow that will get rid of hemorrhoids.

the pain after i go only lasts for a few minutes and then it goes away
Oh you’d be able to tell! If they re external ones you would feel bumping around your hole and possibly even have bright red blood on the TP. Internal ones can also bleed and protrude (come out) of your butt hole, have you ever had problems like this before?? The best person to answer this would be your Dr as being sore after going could very well be a sign of something far more dangerous like colo-rectal cancer, or the beginning of a pilonidal sinus (painful).
