If you have bleeding hemorrhoids, how long before they heal?

it only happens when the bm comes ..no other time..its bright red and there is no pain..do hemorrhoids heal on their own?
Yes, a hemorrhoid can heal itself if you create favorable conditions for it to do so. That means you have to eat a lot more fruit, veg, and wholegrains, drink a lot more fluid, and avoid getting constipated at all. You have to lighten up on the red meat, white bread/rice/potatos, processed foods, and alcohol. And you have to stick with that diet for a while, for a lifetime actually. The hemorrhoid can heal itself within a few months if you do, but it will return with a vengence if you slip back into bad habits again. It's better to treat it kindly and correctly now, while it can heal- than it is to wait. The procedure to remove one is unpleasant and miserable to put it mildly. Ointments and creams will help with the symptoms, but are not cures. For that you must change the diet.

They don't really heal on their own…as "the mom" said you need to change your diet; eat lots of fiber (Fiber One cereal-2 portions gives you the 25-30 gms of fiber you need a day).
Drink lots of water & dark green vegetables.
Use stool softener.
Take acidophilus…it really helps your system work smoothly.
Use OTC hemorrhoid meds to reduce swelling & hopefully bleeding.
If you keep bleeding go to gastroenterologist. Don't wait months.
EDIT: My father had hemorrhoids removed & he lived to tell about it!
Feel better.

Not a nurse, but I did work in hospital
yeeeoowh! Those hurt. Take vitamin B-6 daily, this will help. For a home remedy you can use ketchup. I recommend using Preperation H, or better yet seeing your doctor. Your doctor can prescribe a prescription strength cream that will zap'em in a few days. Hemi's can also be internal, and not just an external problem. Drink one glass of metamucil every night before bed. The extra fiber will help loosen stools to ease comfort and allow healing. Hemi's are caused by sitting on your butt all day at the office, stress such as lifting weights, constipation, and from sitting on the toilet too long while reading your favorite Playboy magazine. Good luck battling the Hemi's… I've been there and done that and I had to man up and see the doctor. I just couldn't take the pain. Cheers!
