post surgery hemorrhoids
What is the best way to deal with anal haemorrhoids?
A friend is worried about the recurrent pain he feels after defecating. He tells me that he even bleeds sometimes.
This occured since after he had a surgery to remove his haemorrhoids instead of taking another less painful option. He’s been asking me for advice as he’s a bit shy to visit the doctor on that, I told him I’d post this for answers from professionals or those who have gone through a similar condition and overcome it.
Would it help if he used Anusol? Would it permanently get rid of the softness/thinness in his rectum and strengthen the walls?
Doctors? Experienced persons?
Please drop a word?
If he has been to hospital and had the operation to remove these then nothing will be more embarrassing than that , and he certainly did the right thing by having the op
I would suggest that perhaps his diet needs to be changed and increase roughage and fluid (water)
yes creams like anusol can relieve discomfort and pain , and he should make sure he cleans the area every day when in the shower to prevent infection
But really he does need to go back to his doctor and explain that although he has had the operation he is still feeling discomfort and pain , he really needs an expert to give the advice after looking at the area
hemroids at a young age
Polio, also known as poliomyelitis, is caused because of a viral infection and can spread from an infected person to another mostly through the fecal-route. In less that 1 percent of the cases, the virus attacks the central nervous system and destroys the motor neurons. This leads to weakness in the muscles and acute paralysis.
The most common form of polio is the spinal polio. Here the muscles responsible for movement are affected. There is no cure for the disease but vaccination developed by Dr Jonas Salk in 1952 and Albert Sabin in 1962 has helped reduce the number of cases in the United States.
Here is a list of some of the famous people with poliomyelitis:
o Donald Sutherland: A famous actor born on July 17, 1935. He was a sickly child and suffered from rheumatic fever and hepatitis. It was in his childhood that he contracted polio. However, it did not stop him and he went on to earn fame and name for himself.
o Franklin D. Roosevelt: The 32nd President of the United States was born on January 30, 1882. He contracted the disease in August 1921 when he was vacationing with his family at Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Popularly known as FDR, Roosevelt tried a lot of different cures to help his atrophied legs to no avail.
o Arthur C. Clarke: This British science fiction writer and inventor also developed polio as a child but it did not stop him from becoming one of the greatest writers of his genre.
o Jack Nicklaus: Popularly known as The Golden Bear suffered from a mild case of the disease at a young age but it did not stop him from becoming one of the best professional golfers of his time.
o Mia Farrow: The popular Hollywood actress survived the disease as a child and has spent a lot of time as an adult educating people about the disease. He helped launch a polio immunization day in the US that was meant for children under the age of 5 years.

chronic hemorrhoids symptoms
Is this blood?
I had an awful exacerbation of my IBS-d symptoms today; I was in so much pain and spent a lot of time in the WC. During my worst bout today, I noticed some very dark maroon coloring to the diarrhea. I’ve had blood in my stool before from hemorrhoids, and it was much brighter in color than this, plus left little spots on the tp. This was different. I’m on no new meds or anything. I’ve had tons of tests (colonoscopies, etc.), even very recently when I was hospitalized for almost two weeks because of losing weight and dehydration (from my chronic diarrhea). Aside from a positive ANA (but that test is inconsistant), the docs say it’s just really bad IBS.
I guess it’s all in my head, but I could swear I’m really sick. What do you think?
BTW, I’ve had this condition most of my adult life, but it’s gotten worse in the last few years.
Well my theory’s always been that if the patient thinks they’re sick, they probably are.
If your symptoms are getting worse and you think there may be blood in your stool I would think that would certainly warrant further investigation. If you’ve had a recent colonoscopy with no abnormalities that is reassuring, but your positive ANA is interesting. You said that it is inconsistent, does it by chance correlate to the severity of your symptoms? In other words do you know whether it is eleveated when your symptoms get worse?
Also, have you been evaluated for Celiac Sprue? There’s also a slight possibility that you have a condition like Crohn’s disease which didn’t show up on the colonoscopy, this happens in about 30% of cases. Obviously your doctor would be the one most familiar with your case so he/she would have the best reccomendations, but (if you haven’t had one already) a small bowel follow-through may be considered to see if there are any conditions affecting only the small intestine. You may also consider some blood tests to evaluate for inflammation, malabsorption, or anemia: CBC, ESR (sed rate), and a CRP, if you haven’t had them already.
hemorrhoid prescription cream
With a hemorrhoid is it better to sit, stand or lay down? I mainly stand all day, should I try to sit?
Also, it a cold pack better than a warm bath? I’m thinking cold since it’s so swollen and I want it to shrink. I’m already using the H cream and my MD is calling in a prescription but the nurse was too busy to instruct me any further. : (
How will I know that it’s time to make an appointment? The earliest I could be seen at this point would be 2 weeks away. I was reading that if it becomes infected then I am at risk for a whole body serious infection…yikes! How to people know…do I wait until it is bleeding???
I got my H’s when I had my daughter 5 years ago and the recently reappeared after having the stomach virus for 2 days. I have a busy week planned and really need to be at work! I need my hemorrhoid to go away as soon as possible!!! Any advice is appreciated!
You can purchase suppositories at the Pharmacy that you insert and they will assist with the pain. The best way to get rid of it is to see the Doc, have it surgically removed, although it might come back.

hemorrhoid removal
There are several treatments you can choose from to remove hemorrhoids. Medications and surgery are some methods that can alleviate hemorrhoids. If you’re in doubt on which treatment is appropriate for you, here are some methods that can cure hemorrhoids.
Most individuals would likely choose a painless method to remove hemorrhoids. Surgical methods may depend on the severity and category of your hemorrhoids. Painless methods such as banding, infrared coagulation and laser therapy are some your doctors would recommend. These are considered non-invasive methods that can eliminate hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoidectomy is an invasive procedure that uses surgical removal of hemorrhoid.
Home remedies may also work to remove hemorrhoids. Sitz bath is one way to relieve pain and swelling. To avoid constipation, high fiber food selections such as apple, whole grain and legumes improve bowel movements. Regular exercise also improves blood return from the lower extremities back to the heart. To alleviate pain and itching, ice packs may be used to treat this. It numbs the pain and swelling produced by these irritating hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoid creams contain anesthetic agents that cause it to shrink. Use a finger cot or applicator and smear adequate amount of cream to the affected areas.
Various herbal treatments may be used to alleviate hemorrhoids. Butcher’s broom, neem, psyllium, witch hazel, horse chestnut and pilewort are some you can use to do just that. It acts on shrinking the hemorrhoids by reducing swelling and irritations. Psyllium is a powdered form fiber that can facilitate easy elimination. Herbal treatments are convenient and cost-effective ways to prevent progression of this condition.
Natural remedies are also part of your hemorrhoid treatment. Fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients that your body needs to alleviate hemorrhoids. Caffeinated products such as coffee can cause aggravation so it is best if consumed in moderation. Adequate hydration should prevent constipation and building up pressure in your lower extremities.
Bioflavonoids found in Citrus fruits can strengthen blood vessels walls, thus prevent weakening with persistent pressure. Dairy products contain lactic acid that can worsen hemorrhoids. As much as possible, avoid eating food selections rich in dairy products if you still have this condition.
These are just some ways you can remove hemorrhoids. It’s best to consult your doctor for appropriate measures on treating hemorrhoids. Surgical methods require several tests and analysis to be done before undergoing any procedure. Inform your doctor if you’re taking blood thinning or anti-clotting treatments. Hemorrhoids Relief????
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to releive hemorrhoids??? I had a baby in December and unfortunately delivery probably caused the hemorrhoids….I have tried the cream and that does help a little…
Cream and then you can see the Doc ask him for anti-inflammatory suppositories. I agree not nice but they can shrink them pretty fast. Likewise watch your diet, constipation or straining will cause them to pop out again. The only cure is surgery. Best of Luck
